I swear to God, it
I swear to God, it seems like OS X chose this week to just be non-playful. Starting sunday the OS decides to no longer save my prefs and in fact start deleting them, all because the drive was reaching capacity. Take note, when running under X always leave at least 300 megs for the system to just do with as it wishes. If not then your machine will get "uppity."(I shit you not.) So to recover I boot off my NUM disk and run Disk Doctor. It identifies and fixes a few errors like a good little soldier.(Without the dieing part anyways.) Next I run Speed Disk to defrag it. I wasn't exactly surprised to see the drive listed as "severe" on the fragged-o-meter; was at 0.4% and you sould always defrag once you hit 0.2%. I click Optimize and then sit back and wait. To my dismay I find out that the whole ordeal took a hellishly long 12 HOURS. I woke up monday morning to find it finally finished and reboot into X. Sadly, I had to leave it sitting there since I had to go looking for a job. Once I did get home though I went straight to replacing all my pref files and setting the new ones. The one blemish remaining after this whole affair is that my menu-bar clock now sits a little lower then it used to. It's the little things that annoy me. The reason I say this 'week' is due to my Finder suddenly refusing to completely eject a CD. As I said, it's the little things. Now to take care of this latest problem.
